In preparation for our participation in the Native Botanical Dinner (part of Australian Future Foods Lab at McClelland Sculpture Park and Gallery), SFN did some visual research with some of the ingredients that would be on the menu.

With assistance from human ecologist, Asha Bee and Carbon Arts director, Jodi Newcombe (two of the producers behind the event), we filmed native plants including Warrigal greens, sea parsley, desert raisins, finger limes and others. Filming through the lens of the microscope, we took it in turns to observe the plants at different magnifications, dissecting and arranging leave and berries, simultaneously projecting our findings onto the wall.

SFN then incorporated these videos into the dinner-event through projection – onto the dinner table and walls, and onto the back of Gregory’s lab coat as part of a roving peformance.
